As Kao San Road became more popular as a tourist destination, a lot of guesthouses were opened and Shoshana was one of the first guesthouses in this area.
We then started making Israeli food for our guests, a lot of whom came from Israel. After a while, a group of Israeli customers helped naming the restaurant “Shoshana”, which means “a rose”.
From word of mouth, a lot of the Israeli tourists who come to Kao San Road would come to have food at Shoshana and all said that the food is just like back at home.
This is how Shoshana was established.
What we cook has grown a long way past hummus and falafel. The menu runs from Israeli plates and mezze through Mediterranean dishes to a full Thai kitchen, with desserts and fresh fruit shakes at the end of it, and most of it is photographed on the gallery pages if you would like to look before you come.
The room is much the same one those first travellers walked into. Israeli visitors still tell us the food tastes like home, and that has stayed the point of the place: generous plates, and the same welcome for somebody here for one evening as for a regular from down the road.
You will find us on Chakrabongse Road, a few minutes on foot from Khao San, open every day from 10:30 until 23:00. No booking needed. Come hungry.
